In the early 1920s a then young draftsman Lorenzo Winslow designed the Tudor-style Irving Park Manor apartment. Lorenzo Winslow later on after moving to Washington, DC became the architect of the White House. Another well known name in architecture Edward Lowenstein introduced modernism to Greensboro after he married into the Cone family after World War II. Many of Greensboro’s modernist homes, including Lowenstein’s own, are scattered throughout Irving Park and other neighborhoods. For more than 100 years Irving Park has remained the city’s premier neighborhood.
